RETAINED MESIODENS: REPORT OF A CLINIC CASE AND THERAPEUTIC ALTERNATIVES

Supernumerary teeth are a number alteration that occurs in temporary and permanent teeth, the most prevalent is the mesiodens, located between the maxillary central incisors, which may be single, multiple, unilateral or bilateral.
Among the complications that can cause the mesiodens are the diastema, retention of permanent teeth and pathological rizalysis, dental malposition and malocclusion.
The aim of this paper was to describe the etiology, complications and management of this problem, for early diagnosis and prevention of potential orthodontic and pathological problems that could arise in long term. Two cases of retained mesiodens were presented, which Will be addressed in the area of surgery at the Dental Clinic of the University of Valle La Paz.
