Platelet concentrates are autologous substances that are used in different dental specialties with the purpose of stimulating tissue regeneration. The two most commonly used products are Platelet Rich Plasma and Fibrin Rich Plasma, both of which are used to regenerate hard tissues (bone) or soft tissues (periodontium). Both platelet concentrates are very useful to improve healing and promote the regeneration of tissues through the contribution of growth factors, these CPs also find varied applications with success in maxillofacial surgery, implantology, periodontics, endodontics and microbiology. Platelet rich plasma is a safe and inexpensive procedure to administer growth factors th at will be used for soft tissue healing. The present work aims to describe platelet concentrates, their preparation techniques and clinical application in dentistry.
