Class III malocclusion is one of the most complex malocclusions to treat, its early interception will create favorable conditions for normal growth, improve occlusal relationships and facial aesthetics, creating a favorable environment for dentofacial development, improving skeletal differences and providing optimal conditions for future craniofacial growth. Pseudoprogeny results from occlusal interference that causes the mandible to move forward, giving rise to an anterior crossbite, Class III molar relationship, inhibition of anteroposterior growth of the upper jaw, which can lead to a Class III skeletal malocclusion, therefore it must be be treated as soon as possible.
A clinical case of an 8-year-old boy with a diagnosis of functional Class III malocclusion is presented, who was treated with a McNamara and a facial mask, with satisfactory results for the child.
