Dental radiography is a valuable resource for auxiliary diagnosis of diseases in the oral cavity. lt should be noted that many pathologies enrolled chronically and also without symptoms manifestation, that is, do not exhibit any discomfort to the patient, therefore, a variety of diseases may be discovered in a radiographic routine and not by a certain pathology prescription.
This was a prospective, transversal and descriptive research, with the aim of determining the dentomaxillary abnormalities most frequently recorded in panoramic radiographs of patients who came to the Radiology Department of the Dental Clinic Univalle in the period from 03/01/2010 to 11/30/2010, by sex and age group.
The total number of patients seen in this period was 61 6, of which the most frequent abnormality in dental panoramic radiographs was caries with 178 cases, most often maxillary anomaly was the irregular bony rim with 9 cases. The sex with higher frequency of dentomaxillary anomalies correspond to the female with 385 cases and to the age range over 18 years with 387 cases.
