Abstract

External root resorption is a pathological process that is due, among other causes, to chronic inflammatory processes located at root level. These are frequent alterations that occur with the destruction of tooth tissue and in many cases are not diagnosed or treated properly. Treatment, if the conditions are right, is apicoectomy, in order to conserve the tooth. The case of a 42 years old female patient was presented, where it was performed a root canal on a permanent left maxillary central incisor, and it suffered external root resorption due to a chronic inflammatory process after the endodontic treatment. From the above, the external root resorption according to the concept, etiology, treatment and surgical process that was done to prevent the evolution of the disease, removing the offending agent through the apical curettage was analyzed.
