Los presentes resultados encontraron que los materiales de desecho orgánico fueron efectivos contra el nematodo agallador que ataca al tomate en condiciones de campo y redujeron significativamente los índices de agallas de la raíz, los nematodos y las masas de huevos en comparación con el control. Las enmiendas orgánicas del suelo estimulan las actividades de los microorganismos que son antagónicos a los nematodos agalladores. La descomposición de la materia orgánica da lugar a la acumulación en los suelos de compuestos específicos que pueden ser nematicidas. Las modificaciones se refieren principalmente a bioproductos y residuos procedentes de actividades industriales, agrícolas, biológicas y de otro tipo.
