At present, as the development of economy and knowledge accelerate, the internationalization of higher education becomes a common trend in the development of education, with international student mobility as an important indicator. In the period from the beginning of the 21st century to the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, the cross-border flow of students has shown significant development of scale and speed of growth, and the increasingly close humanistic exchanges between China and Latin America are furtherly intensifying the cooperation and interaction between the two sides in the field of higher education. In the new era of constructive development between China and Latin America, it would be of great strategic significance to conduct an in-depth analysis of the current situation, going through the historical background, favorable and unfavorable factors, as well as existing problems and prospects of cross-border student mobility, to further promote the comprehensive cooperation of the two regions and promote the role played by Sino-Latin American talents.
