CUTTING SYNDROME (SELF- HARM)

Cutting Syndrome is the act of self-harm in order to alter a mood, an end to a state of emotional turmoil or alleviate a situation involving stress inflicting physical damage to the body. The ultimate purpose is not suicide, either for pleasure or as a ritual to belong to a group. lt is often seen in teens and body location is usually on the wrists and the medium is any Sharp objects (eg. razor blade).
From the point of view of biological and neurochemical science, this syndrome is related to Iow serotonin levels. Among the predisposing psychological factors of the existence of physical or sexual abuse, physical or emotional neglect and dysfunctional family conditions during childhood and adolescence. The development cycle indicates that the patient syndrome with cut Cutting increasingly need to get the same result. The approach to these patients is psychological and psychiatric patient requires psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy.
