PLAQUE PERIODONTAL CONTROL IN DENTAL PATIENTS SENSITIZED IN DENTAL HYGIENEAT UNIVALLE DENTAL CLINIC DURING 2010 - 2011

lt has been determined one of the diseases that has more prevalence and incidence on society is periodontal disease. The amount of plaque on the patient was determined by applying the O' Leary index OLeary.
This research was conducted at the Univalle Dental Clinic with the main objective of determining control of periodontal plaque in sensitized patients about dental hygiene, to determine whether the preventive methods of teaching oral hygiene and awareness which are used are effective in periodontally treated patients. lt was a prospective, transversal and experimental research. This information was obtained through medical records of 50 patients treated at the Periodontology and Preventive lecture during 2010 to 2011, compiled by the seniors of the Univalle Dental Clinic.
The main results were: 90% of patients used a combined brushing technique (horizontal, vertical, circular), with a frequency of brushing twice a day. The difference between using dental floss and non-users is 8 patients. An average rate reduction of 36,3% Oleary with the combined technique to 15,5% with the technique of brushing Stillman was observed, which is compatible with oral health.
