The main determinant of Public Health problems is the increased mortality and disability associated with consumption of snuff. Studies show that doctors and Medicine students who smoke are less motivated to do a promotion of quitting in patients.
A prospective, longitudinal and analytical study was conducted in a universe of 440 students, with the aim of establishing the extent of consumption of tobacco in Medicine students at the Universidad Privada del Valle, Cochabamba headquarters during 2013. A close voluntary survey was used as an instrument that guaranteed confidentiality, this instrument was developed by the researchers based on Other surveys.
The results indicate that from the universe of 440 Medicine students, 130 are smokers (29.5%) and 310 are nonsmokers (70.5%). A higher percentage, 60.90/0 have smoked. The prevalence of snuff in Medicine students at the Universidad Privada del Valle, Cochabamba, during 2013 (with a percentage of 29.5%) was similar to youth from Argentina (28.7%); Colombia (29.8%) and GYTS; but increased in relation to the prevalence of Bolivia (28.4%) found with the implementation of the GYTS, on reports from 1999-2003.
