The role of the therapist's hands as the supreme instrument of knowledge and working tool. Hands have a pivotal role in the three stages of therapeutic process: assessment, diagnosis and treatment, so that increasing the skills of palpation through the different teaching resources, better data may be obtained in the process of valuation, thus better results in the treatment process.
A prospective, transversal and experimental research was made with the objective of implementing a basic exercise program to increase the palpatory skill in recognizing musculoskeletal structures through physiotherapy and kinesiology manual teaching resources. The universe of work were 18 participants, and the sample were 8 students who are students from the first semester, which did not have a sufficient degree of palpatory skill to obtain the data required for the therapeutic process.
The variables were in two phases: the first with basic exercises with manual palpation teaching resources. The second consisted on exercises of body palpation on a living individual such as perceiving and describing a bone structure.
The results obtained from the application of these exercises were quite satisfactory, demonstrating the effectiveness of the corresponding exercise by measuring the time an initial, interim and final evaluation.
