Atelectasis is the partial or total lung collapse with decreased lung volume generated by multietiological factors.
Mechanical ventilation is an invasive procedure whose application sometimes involves severe risks to be provided and, where possible, should be early identified in order to implement an immediate and effective treatment.
The role of the physical therapist is of great importance in solving respiratory complications, especially atelectasis, since respiratory rehabilitation aims to facilitate the removal of tracheobronchial secretions.
The kinesical technique vibration or acceleration exhaled flow in the chest is a procedure performed during the expiratory phase; frequency is 5 to 25 Hz per second. The vibrations applied to the chest wall infants should be very careful and gentle.
