Abstract

When the tooth has been attacked either by physical, chemical or traumatic injury involving dentine-pulp complex, before considering extraction, we could choose the last alternative conservative as endodontics.

The universe consisted of 280 patient records indicating endodontic treatment, served in the Endodontics during 2009 - 2010. In relation to age, the highest percentage of pulp alterations corresponded to the age group between 8 and 24 years with 58%; and the lowest percentage to the group over 56 years with 8% involvement. According to the most affected tooth, the right and left central incisors showed 11% and 10% respectively affectation.

Root canal system treatments performed are summarized in 47% of Necropulpectomies l, Biopulpectomies 31% and 22% of Necropulpectomies ll. The most common pulp treatment was the necropulpectomy l, being the most vulnerable group of young patients between 8-24 years Old.
