BURNOUT SYNDROME IN MEDICAL DOCTORS OF THE CAJA PETROLERA DE SALUD LA PAZ

Work stress, known as "BURN-OUT", refers to the emotional distress that causes our internal commitment to the work that we assume, and due to physical pressure, mental and emotional, medicine is one of the occupations which results more stressful on the fact that we are dealing with human lives. We performed a cross-sectional study, observational, descriptive, and prospective, through the questionnaire Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI).
The aim of this study was to identify and demonstrate the Burnout Syndrome among doctors at Caja Petrolera La Paz; frequency, relationship by years exercised and by specialty. The results indicate that: from 60 physicians surveyed, 5 present BURNOUT SYNDROME. Of this group, practice their profession between 21-30 years, and by specialty 2 of the 5 are in surgery. We conclude that the burnout syndrome at Caja Petrolera La Paz is present in a small percentage (8%), with no clear relationship in terms of years engaged in the profession or specialty.
