The Successful anesthetic blockade of the inferior alveolar nerve. An updated narrative review

El bloqueo anestésico exitoso del nervio dentario inferior, ramo del trigémino, se define como la ausencia clínica de dolor durante los procedimientos odontológicos en su territorio de inervación. El fracaso en la técnica anestésica se presenta con mayor frecuencia en pacientes tratados por estudiantes que inician la práctica clínica y quirúrgica, así como en profesionales con experiencia reducida. El objetivo de este artículo examina la evidencia actual sobre anestesia local del nervio dentario inferior y los factores que condicionan el fracaso en su bloqueo; además, es evidente que las características anatómicas de referencia para la técnica anestésica sean variables en cada paciente, esto exige al profesional odontólogo contar con la experiencia práctica necesaria y con un conocimiento anatómico adecuado.
