Coping Strategies for Parents of Children Diagnosed with Cancer that Attend the Pediatric Unit of Instituto Oncológico del Oriente Boliviano" from the City of Santa Cruz, Bolivia

This project proposes a program of coping strategies for parents of children diagnosed with cancer in the Pediatric Unit of "Instituto Oncológico del Oriente Boliviano" from the city of Santa Cruz. The results about the parents coping research were analyzed and a model of adaptive behavior was proposed by a Coping Strategies Guide "How to cope with this situation", besides of the planning of individual clinical sessions and supporting groups. This project is qualiquantitative type; its research design is nonexperimental descriptive with an inductive approach and was conducted on a sample of 26 subjects in total. The main instruments used were structured interviews anda coping strategies questionnaire. The most important conclusion was the present population needs a specific training in technics/ methods to face this situation.
