Introduction: There is a lack of knowledge of the internal anatomy of the RMV (mesiovestibular root) of the PMM (first maxillary molar), in addition to the identification and location of the MV2 duct (mesiovestibular 2); its total debridement is undoubtedly one of several factors of failure in endodontic treatment. The incorporation of CBCT/TCHC (in English cone beam computed tomography and in Spanish cone beam computed tomography) allows to observe complicated anatomical structures in access, being decisive for the diagnosis and treatment.
Material and methods: A total of 64 CBCT images were examined. The study was based on a cross-sectional design between July and November 2022, quantitative approach, type of exploratory research, descriptive, deductive method; the data collection technique used a structured observation guide as a recording instrument for HCCT.
Results: Of the 64 teeth studied, with HCCT; the PMM RMV; showed a frequency of MV2 duct in 34 roots, representing 53% and absent in 30 roots, representing 47%.
Discussion: The knowledge of the anatomical variations found will help us so that the dental professional has a better management of diagnosis and protocol of endodontic care and applies a certain technique of instrumentation, irrigation, medication, filling and provide a successful endodontic treatment.
