Leishmaniasis is one of the most important diseases transmitted by vectors in humans. This disease may be caused by many Leishmania species, most of which are zoonotic. In humans, different species of parasites are associated with different forms of disease.
This disease significantly contributes to poverty because treatment is expensive and therefore unaffordable or it imposes a substantial economic burden. Hence the objective of this study, to find the frequency of confirmed cases in an endemic, Reyes-Beni.
We performed a retrospective study at the Hospital San Juan de Dios Ballivián province in the department of Beni. We found a total of 22 registered patients with leishmaniasis during steps 2010 to 2011, with a percentage of 92% of males and only 8% were female, of which 100% were diagnosed, monitored and treated.
Leishmaniasis is determined as a disease that if is not prevented or not given proper and timely treatment, complications can be very dangerous. lt was observed that in this region the Cutaneous leishmaniasis is more predominant in people of average age, the site of predilection for infection vector is found in the Iower limbs in male persons, mostly farmers. lt was determined that the community with the highest incidence of confirmed cases is Puerto Cavinas.
