The electro-stimulators are widely used by physiotherapists, each electro-physical agent presents some waveform according to the current and technique offered, the electro physical component is in relation to the waveform of the proposed current and the selective parameters of modulation, to be able to give a therapeutic stimulus contribution on the stimulated tissues.
A comparative and cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out with the objective of comparing the electro physical component of two original electro stimulators of Globus Italy@ brand and the Other from a questionable source of similar technological characteristics were studied in 14 volunteer patients who underwent electro analgesia treatment at the leve/ of the median nerve, they were verified by echography and electromyography tests for the physiological effects.
The main results show that the device Genesy Sll has a symmetrical biphasic waveform, a stimulation of nerve fibers and a membrane polarization in a correct way and the electro stimulator ofunknown origin My Stim 2 has monophasic chain pulses, which are positive and negative, trying to get some symmetrical biphasic waveform, causing inappropriate physiological effects on tissues.
Given the results found in our study, we conclude that it is important to know how to differentiate the electro-physical components of an electrotherapy equipment, to avoid injuries at the skin leve/ and inadequate electrical stimulation.
