Abstract

Tracheal trauma affecting the cervical portion is rare (10% of all neck injuries), with penetrating mechanism as the most frequent and mortality of 30-80% during transfer. Adequate management of the initial trauma with securing the airway is only part of the problem that the patient may present; one of the major complications is tracheal stenosis. The probability of detecting this type of complications implies an adequate follow-up of the patients to avoid their complications. We present the case of a 48-year-old man who attended on 10.22.22, with a condition characterized by pain in the left clavicular region accompanied by hemoptysis and dysphonia of approximately 5 days of evolution that progressed to difficulty swallowing. Where the patient was hospitalized and underwent surgery due to closed tracheal injury due to Kirschner wire osteosynthesis material migrated from the left clavicle. He underwent surgery upon discharge and went directly to the ICU for monitoring and management. He evolved satisfactorily and was discharged from the ICU for five days, going to surgery rooms with favorable evolution
