This study provides useful knowledge for SME export managers given the competitive environment of the international market, where their ability to ensure the operational efficiency of the organization is key to achieving success. This study aims to address the following research question: how can SME export managers optimize their operations through the adoption of digital technologies to enhance their competitiveness and meet the growing demands of customers? The constructs and methods for reviewing the literature included journal articles and recent empirical studies on the enablers and barriers to solving this problem. The findings reveal challenges such as funding, resistance to change, and information security. However, digitalization can have a significant positive impact on efficiency through SMEs' collaboration with technology providers and continuous staff training. Finally, the results indicate that reducing costs improves a company's resilience and adaptability to changes in the global market. As part of the policy implications, it is suggested that policymakers promote successful models used in other countries and support their implementation.
