Abstract

The municipality of Camargo, capital of the Nor Cinti province in Chuquisaca, Bolivia, is undergoing rapid urban growth marked by deficiencies in infrastructure, basic services, and adequate planning. These conditions have led to social segregation, deterioration of cultural and natural heritage, and unregulated territorial expansion. In response, this study proposes a sustainable urban and architectural improvement plan aimed at guiding the town’s development toward a more equitable, resilient, and resource-compatible model.

The research adopts an interdisciplinary approach that integrates urban, environmental, social, and cultural dimensions, aligned with the 2030 Agenda and particularly with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities. Through participatory methodologies, contextual analysis, and lessons learned from national and international experiences, the study outlines solutions such as productive housing, inclusive public spaces, improved health and cultural facilities, renewable energy integration, and sustainable mobility strategies.

The results highlight the potential for a comprehensive transformation of Camargo that not only enhances habitability but also strengthens social cohesion, promotes environmental sustainability, and leverages local productive capacities. Ultimately, the goal is to establish the foundations of planned urban development that ensures long-term quality of life for its inhabitants.
